If UMD doesn't have the item that I need, how do I request items using Get It or Interlibrary Loan?

We can track down books, articles, and journals for you if an item isn't in our holdings.

  • First, if you are affiliated with UMD, make sure that you were logged into the library catalog for the best results and functionality.
  • You can contact a librarian via AskUs! or consult with a Reference Librarian (second floor) for assistance with finding materials on the shelf or in digital formats.
  • UMD students, faculty, and staff can request materials from other University of Minnesota campus libraries using the Get It service.  Just log into our catalog, find a title, and request it by clicking on the GET IT link. We will retrieve the title and hold it for you at the Circulation Desk. Are you a faculty or staff on campus? If so, you can choose "office delivery" as the pickup location.
  • Log in to your interlibrary loan account to request materials not available within the University of Minnesota system.

Visitors can request items from other University of Minnesota libraries by asking the circulation desk staff for assistance.
